maturehow going away what this ravine wish to most em phatically oppose this View It is not Swampy or wet Some years ago the town put in lot of fill into the south end of the ravine The creek has cut its bed about four feet lower than it was once and the ravine Isdry It is really beauty spot now and is the part of the Park the small children like best Even small stream attracts them Everyday in summer moth ers can be found sitting on the edge of the ravine while the chil dren play on the flat below them Cars stop while families eat lunch in the ravine Instead of wishing to see this place lled at any time am sure that those who hovd known it and loved it for years would much prefer to have it as it If any of our citizens will walk along Toronto street and look across this ravine to the park think he or she will agree that it adds variety and charm to the view am not adverse to having church built on the street but do urge the people of Barrie to oppose any more selling of Public Park Land in our town We once had very useful park known as the Agricultural Park It was playground for two schools it was baseball eld the Agricultural Society used it for its annual show theskatlng rink was in one corner where it did not interfere with other aothltlos It was jected them The committee have been asking for an increase of Wages to 23 cents Fan hour but any increase of Wages would not be consldered by the company An other demand made was for recogr nition of grievanCe committee fromthe union who would have powcrto confer with the company regarding all grievances thatthe men brought to the notice of the union The company madoacoms promise in this demand andoffered to deal with grievance committee from cache the sheds butnol with the committee representing the whole union ThlSwas likewise re iectcd by the men and the commit teehyvere instructed on Saturday night to goiback to the company and press for the 23 cents go hour and recognition of the grievance committee with the assurance the then would stand behind their committee Themen are feeling very ugly just now said aproinlnentmem ber of the union to The Star teddy jand Weare by no means sure that troublc will begaverted if the com pany ct arbitrarily in thenegotla H912 loud it emolrtl make lBarrie The deed spedl ed that it was to be held in perpetuity as Park The town accepted this and thcrcb also pledged itaelf to ban or Thomsons wish This should be mer as sacred trust by all ofus andl am sur prised that any group of citizens should consider even for mom cm the idea of dishonorinz it town takes its greatest pride in itsSchools its Hospitals and its Parks If Barrie continues to grow the Parks will be more and more necessary And as for ravines do you think Toronto would sell any of the ravines in High Park The price offered is not more than quarter of the value of the land but even if we were offered twenty thousand we should not be tempted Other land can be found for the church but not for the Park and we have no right to ask the citizens of Barrie as whole to subsidize any denomination Yours truly omnWoon QEGARC mechanic with Corby motors mitcd has wealth of experience in servicing and
