often give of their free time and even take leave without pay from their jobs to attend hockey games fairs or church picaicr Bob Ryder the superintendent estimates he spends aoo hours year on St John activities Many are astonished to learn that the welltrainde men and women who make up the division do their job on pay ityou save life or stop suf tering you get paid but not with mancy You nrepaid with the satisfaction you get rlrorn help ing your fellow man Mr Ry der said St John Ambulance came to Barrie in the early part of 1942 when nursing division was started Every afternoon during the war volunteers from the div ision helped at Royal Victoria Hospital The nursing strength of the division is now 10Thero are men on stmegth Meetings are held It times during the year in the St John House
