full understanding by the pub lic who ultimately must heir the cost of controlling and abating pollution With this fact in mind the Conservation Coun cil has urged the federal government to develop major information and educa tion rograms concerning water pollu tion fact is that we are all part and parcel of thc battle against water pollu tion The need for water pollution con trol Is essential It is now and unless we all do our bit the diminishing supply of ure clean water will continue to grow ess Look To Safety At Work In determined effort to reduce ac cidents and save lives provincewide safety campaign is being conducted by the IndustrialAccldent Prevention Asso ciations during October The labor force of well over 29000 manufacturing and industrial plants throughout the province are urged to participate in the campaign by exercis ing more care and caution and by ell comaging other workmen to follow their example In 1063 there were more than 32000 reports of work injuries in whichcom pensatiun was paid in Ontario There were 84 fatal industrial accidents These figures mark new alltime high for compensation cases from companies serv ed by IAPA an alarmiugincrease over the 26104 cases reported in the previous year The total amount of money paid during 1003 in compensation as result of accidents for all industries in Ontario gesfiargd the staggering total of $03058 Many of the accidents could have been avoided by the use of safety hats safety goggles and safety shoes An urgent appeal to women house wives as well as industrial and office workers was made by Harold
