Minor peewees win International Silver Stick A last-minute invitation to the recent International Silver Stick championships in Newmarket, the Oakville minor peewee AA1 Rangers took full advantage. The Rangers -- who narrowly missed out on qualifying for the competition, losing to North Toronto in the final of the regional tournament in Whitby -- were added to the field after a Cincinnati squad withdrew. Oakville won three of four round-robin games, dumped the host Newmarket Redmen 3-2 in the semifinals and then claimed the International Silver Stick title with a 3-1 victory over, of all teams, North Toronto in the final. Oswald was victorious in the women's 15-and-over 50-metre butterfly and 100m individual medley. Djurfeldt's wins came in the men's 13-14 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle. Ho reached the wall first in the open men's 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
