Oakville's Leslie Ashworth, 18, was recently nominated for an Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Award. Every nominee receives a certificate of recognition from his or her local, weekly community newspaper -- Ashworth received hers from the Oakville Beaver . Ashworth was nominated by Marybeth Beuglet, rehabilitation co-ordinator at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), for her work on creating the Suite Melody Care program at the local hospital. The program sees Ashworth visit OTMH every month to play music for the patients at the rehabilitation ward. Suite Melody Care recently received formal approval, allowing Ashworth to eventually expand her program to other hospitals and include more musically-talented youths. Ashworth has also produced two CDs, giving a portion of the sales to Free The Children (now totalling approximately $2,500), and gives performances for charitable and not-for-profit organizations, such as ArtHouse, Wellspring, and Ashworth nominated for Ontario Junior Citizen award 17 | Friday, January 30, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Future Aces, to name a few.
