BARBIE EXAMINER FRIDAY JULY 21 1131 THE GREAT ourooons By WALLY SMITH DANGEROUS DRIVE All of the dangerous drivers are not on our roads and tugtie ways not by along shot We read in Wednsdaye paper that young lady mapedvery serious injury from tow rope used for watcrskiing and we see instances of absolutely silly care less and downright selth operation of water craft every day up here Incidentally we are penning tth column from one of our favourite spots in the great outdoors Penetanguishene While we were out catching tomorrows lunch smallmmitned black bass we saw couple of good instances of really reddas boat operation No clods in swift boats with really powerful molars for the site of the boats were racing line abreast and almost swamping one another in each other swells not too far from where we were angling Our fishing companion John Barr of Niagara Falls just shook his head and said there goes couple of fellows who are really asking for it Some poor innocent person will probably be their victim too We cannot understand those people who cut loose from their boats and ski clMe to bathera or docks We have seen some close calls in this department it amazes us the number of people who venture out with out lite jackets too it is of no avail to he good swlrrnner if you are pitched out and happen to get alknock on the head or in some manner not be able to swim With proper life jacket you have your head supported out of the water in an emergency and you have better chance of making shore BASS FISHING We have had couple of good feeds of freshlycaught bass but they are not cooperating as well we expected We have really worked for every one which we brought borne Even we do not get to land thorn all in spite of the fact We fish quite lot The frog hatch is not over yetmaybe thu will make bu difference we are counting on it We fully expect to be the fishing with frogs this weekend All of the bass which we have caught to date have been caught on live minnows while angling WOULDNT YOU KNOW IT Like most ardent fishermen we have few favourite spots and we move from one to the other depending on our luck Beausolicl Island is our favourite followed closely by one between here and there and then about four more right in Penetang harbour area We tricd all of our spots the first time out without much success then headed back to the cottage for swim and some sunshine After good swim and little lying around soaking up the run we thought we would have some fun with Peter by baiting his rod and trying right off the end of our own dock Yes you guessed it we caught more bass from our own dock in the boat of the afternoon than at any of our favourite spots Peter is telling everyone about all of the Iishreshe catchm at his own dock Some probably figure that it is child isti fancy HAND 1300K FOR ANGLERS We often hear friendly arguments about what was the big est of certain specia of fish caught in Ontario in the past ear and so on Thanks to Molsonn there is good booklet available which gives all this data Forinstanoe hero is the information given on smallmouth bass minronterus dolomieu other names smalfrnouth small mouth black
