April ii at Private Patients Pavil ion Toronto General Hospital New Boom Dedicated On Sunday afternbon April ii special service was held in the Sunday School room of the United Church when new room for the use of the primary department of the Sunday School was dedicated Due to the growth of the Sunday School it was found necessary to create more room so as result the large basement room was divided in half thus creating new room The superintendent of the Sunday School Mrs Hin dle conducted the service Form er workers in the Sunday School many of whom had moved away from Cookstown were invited to the service and great many were able to come Rev Bugden former minister now residing in Orillia was present and brought greetings from his Sunday School in Oriliia He also expressed his delight at being back in Cooks town The special speaker at the service was Mrs Broley now of Toronto but for many years sup erintendent of the Sunday School She brought meSSage of great delight and value to the large con gregation Musical numbers were given by Mrs Trace of Elmvale and Mrs Norman Brolcy Toronto both formerly from Cookstown Lorne Arnold of Cookstown organ ist and choirmaster of the church gave two violin solos McFad den also former superintendent read the Scripture lesson from the Bible presented to him when he retired from the work in the Sun day School Hubert Lemmon the assistant superintendent and treas urer led in prayer Albert Keil the secretary reported on the growth of the Sunday School over the past 20 years The offering was dedicated by Mrs Elbért Hayes also former worker in the school Following the dedica tion of the offering the new parti tion which is hinged and which at the start of the service had been raised to the ceiling was lowered and the room was dedicated by the minister Rev Kellogg The sliding doors hadbeen connected by white ribbon and during this part of the service the ribbon was cut by Diane Crawford officially opening theroom The partition was again raised to the ceiling At this point in the service Mr Kellogg dedicated piano donat ed to the primary department by George and Lorna Faris in mem cry of their little boy David who died nearly year ago Both room and piano were received by Mrs Hindle on behalf of the Sunday School arid she in turn gave them to Mrs Gilroy the superinIEOdy ent of the primary department for the use 48th Year Funeral service was held on Tuesday April 1954 at Central United Church for Samuel James Sirrulson who operated barber shop in Barrie for it years Mr Simpson died here on Saturday April flollowing cerebral hemmorhage Born at Christian Valley on Dec 1906 Mr Simpson was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Robert Simpson He attended Central Churchhere where he was mem ber of the Session He also be longed to the Barbers Bowling League Besides his widow the former Beatrice Knight of Powassan he IS suryived by two daughters Sondra age 15 and Suzanne age 13 and son Peter age l2 Rev Wpter of
