first re sponsibility of this organization is to educate farmers as to their posi tion in the economic field today compared to others He said this Farmers Union was born out of need that it is the most demo craticallycontrolled farm organi zation known today and will bring the voice of the grass roots farm er to where it can be heard The speaker emphasized how that one of the main planks of the union policy was for national livestock marketing board over cattle sheep and swine which would make for parity prices for farmers and this he claimed is the only real solution to our livestock marketing problems Because Iarmers incomes are so terribly depressed farmers must necessarily drag down the stand ard of other industrial groups be cause they have not the buying power to purchase the commodities they need and that industrv pro ouccs Mr Cormack laid this re sponsibility on the farmers them selves as they had failed to or ganize when others did and they alone have fallen back arta time when all other organized groups have maintained their place and even gone ahead in the economic life of our nation He claimed that farmers alone are the last disorganized group and called on all farmers to join the Farm Union that together in strength they can demand fair share of this nations prosperity very intelligent discussion fol lowed tihc meeting after which the secretary Winston
