Osborne, who has volunteered with the GAO since 2011 and is a member of the Mississauga Golf and Country Club, was named GAO president at the association's annual general meeting Saturday at Glencairn Golf Club in Halton Hills. "It is an honour that I don't deserve but certainly am very proud of, and I will work at it as hard as I can," said Osborne, noting past president Jim King often re- Christian Osborne ferred to the position as `head volunteer'. "There are challenges, of course, but the game of golf that we love has survived world wars, depression, famine and recession. Oakville defeated the Leaside Lightning 15U team 23-25, 25-21, 15-5 in the final, the Thunder's fifth win in as many games that day. Oakville advanced to the title game with a straight-set victory over the Georgetown Impact in the semifinals. The Thunder's win advanced the team to the premier division for its next 15U tournament.
