The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday August 7, 2002 - A7 Monster Bingo benefits foodbank Mark Monday, Sept. 2 down on your calendar for Fareshare Foodbank's Monster Bingo. The event -- which kicks off at 12:30 p.m. at Mayfair Bingo. 483 Speers Rd. -- will feature $30,000 in prize money. According to Fareshare spokesper son Dudley Clarke, there will one game for the day's biggest prize. $10,000. then single games for $5,000 and $2,500. There will be seven games for $1,200 each with the remaining money split amongst smaller prizes. Tickets, available at Mayfair Bingo, are $50 in advance or $60 the day of the event. Clarke said the annual bingo goes a long way to helping meet the foodbank's rent for the year. Most of the general monetary donations from the public (64 per cent) are used to buy food, with the remainder going to over head. In 2001, Fareshare served on aver age 223 families per month, which broke down into 717 people, of which 390 were children. Statistics gathered this year until the end of June reveal a 17 per cent increase in usage with an average 248 families (847 people, 456 children) per month. Anyone wishing to donate money can send cheques (for which income tax receipts will be issued) can be sent to 1240 Speers Rd., Unit 6, Oakville, Ontario, L6L 2X4. Food donations can be dropped off at Fareshare, located at 1240 Speers Rd., Unit 6, on Mondays and Thursdays. For information call 847-3988.
