Bekker, a 24-year-old midfielder, became the then-highest Canadian player ever selected in the Major League Soccer Draft when Toronto picked him third overall in 2013. Bekker played in 29 games during two seasons for Toronto FC, and is still seeking his first MLS goal. The Boston College product has appeared in 13 games with the Canadian national men's team and played for Canada's Under-23 team at the 2012 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Kamil Tkaczuk and Ross Sloan scored third-period markers for the Blades, who trailed the game 3-1 after the first period. Ryan Burns had Oakville's other goal, and Brendan McGlynn stopped 24 of 25 shots in relief of starting netminder Daniel Manella. In the Blades' previous two games, they defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-1 Wednesday in Buffalo and doubled up the Orangeville Flyers 4-2 Friday at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.
