"For the fourth consecutive year, Scotiabank is proud to host Scotiabank Skates at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga," said Phil Armstrong, senior vice-president of commercial banking, Scotiabank. "As Canada's `Hockey Bank', we are pleased this year's event will support both Trillium Health Partners and Oakville hospital, benefitting even more people in our communities." Since the event began in 2012, it has raised more than $700,000. The proceeds from this year's event will help fund diagnostic imaging equipment at both hospitals. The three-day, hockey-themed skating event featured an old-timers' hockey tournament, a free family fun skate, youth hockey skills clinic and Mississauga Steelheads game. All activities took place at The Hershey Centre in Mississauga. "I know I speak for the entire Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) family, especially our hockey-playing physicians, when I say we're delighted to be included in the Scotiabank Skates event this year," said Tina Triano, CEO, of the Oakville Hospital Foundation. "Funds raised have been earmarked for the imminent purchase of the third MRI for the new Oakville Hospital, opening this December. "We're grateful for Scotiabank's support for OTMH, which has been as long-standing as it is far-reaching, providing funding and volunteer leadership, both locally and corporately for nearly 30 years," she said.
