Fascinating minds since 1911 At Appleby College the commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience is built into everything that's done. Founded in 1911, Appleby offers a co-educational learning environment for students in grades 7 to 12 on a 60-acre lakefront campus in Oakville. Appleby's 750 students are encouraged to discover and embrace their passions, whether in the classroom, on the stage, in the gym or on an international service project. Recognized for its commitment to global responsibility and education, the curriculum, with a strong focus on experiential learning, languages, global issues and international service programmes, creates a unique learning environment that promotes global awareness. Appleby is the first day/boarding school in North America to offer an integrated global education programme which culminates in the achievement of the Appleby College Diploma with Distinction in Global Leadership. Experiential education is a hallmark of the Appleby experience. Beginning in grade 7, students participate in the Learning Explorations Assessment Foundations (LEAF) program, replacing traditional written exams with an experiential learning experience that gets the students outside of the classroom and into the local community. Students also participate in Appleby's Outdoor Education program at the McLaughlin Northern Campus in Temagami. Vital life skills such as self-confidence, understanding relationships, personal growth and a dedicated responsibility toward local and global communities are developed while enjoying the great outdoors. One of the many unique aspects of Appleby is the grade 12 boarding requirement, providing an opportunity for students to gain a greater appreciation of different perspectives and cultures, while developing the responsibility and skills to assist with transitioning from high school to university. More than 95 per cent of Appleby graduates are accepted into their university of choice, including some of Canada's and the world's most recognized institutions such as Queen's, Western, McGill, Yale and Princeton. An Appleby education requires a significant commitment and financial need should never prevent a student from reaching their full potential. Appleby's Financial Assistance program is designed to ensure that students can pursue an outstanding education, and provides more than $3 million in bursaries, loans and scholarships annually.
