Umbro showcase at OSC More than 25 university and college scouts from both sides of the border will be in Oakville this weekend to see some of the province's top young soccer players in action. Oakville Soccer Club is hosting the inaugural Umbro Showcase Fuelled by Gatorade, which will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at Pine Glen Soccer Centre. Competing teams will include OSC's elite under-15 to U18 teams, the current national champion Darlington U17 girls' team, the perennial powerhouse North Mississauga Panthers U17 boys' squad and the Toronto Lynx U18 girls' team. Schools who are confirmed to attend include Holy Cross University, University of Detroit Mercer, Dalhousie University, McMaster University, Sheridan College, Lambton College, University of Toronto, Ryerson University, Durham College, Queen's University and Trent University. "Our hope is that this event will give our athletes the ability to compete at the highest level in front of top recruiters from the NCAA, CIS and CCAA, and potentially become student athletes as they move on to the next level of their playing career," said OSC executive director Dave Harris. Caelan Hartley was named team MVP for the Flyers, who posted two wins and a tie in pool play, then blanked Nepean 5-0 in the semifinals. York Mills prevented an allHalton final by edging the Halton Hills Thunder 3-2 in overtime in the other semi.
