collegiate Band are busy writing essays on music topics in hopes that each may be able to amass enough points to be eligible for free trip to New York and to the concert of Canadian music to be held in Carnegie Hall on the even tug of Friday Oct 16 The lucky two will be drawn by lot from the top six musician stu dentscf the band according to point system arranged for the oc casmn Ramgravadaerb ra i0 station CKBB has generously offered the trip to the members of the band to attend the concert to be presented by the New York Symphony under the direction of Leopold Stokowski The mem bers chosen will be flown from Malton Airport at noon on Friday Oct 16 returning on Sunday Oct 18 The members will stay at cele brated hotel attend the concert be interviewed and attend all so cial functionsof the cont They 11 sit in Mr Snelgroves box and 11 be expected to be in evening dress The pupils are marked in five divisions In division one the pupil gets credit according to his or her seniority fifth former counts five times 20 or 100 fourth former four tims 20 etc In division two the candidate is credited with his June mark of 1953 good pupil thus stands better chance of being drawnthan poor pupil In division three the pupilis marked on the Conservatory ex Reserved Area Suggested Foster violapresident ams which he or she has passed and here the advanced musician can acquire marks
