stand nomination meeting must be held to fill the vacanczes on the sixmember board The resignations made at inter vals during the day to Mrerilton Eplelt secretary of the board were the aftermath of stormy and pro longed meeting of the titistees the previous night The action follow ed criticism by two trustees back ed up by two of the women leach crs Those resigning were chairman Norris Walker Frank Williams Mrs Gladys Hall and Mrs Hazel Tipping The last three named were elected to office for the first time at the last municipal election Still on the board are Cecil Robinson and Mrs Gladys Manning Crux of the dispute was the up setting of salary schedule set at the May meeting The schedule and the budget for 1953 were an ranged by the four members who have since resigned The other two trustees had been absent from the important May meeting on the grounds they were too busy to at tend The schedule for teachers other than the principal was $2000 start ing salary with yearly increases goodwill gesture He also suggestec that framed picture of the Champlain Monu ment in Orillia be presented to the City of Quebec and that he might discuss with Archbishop Roy possible annual Ceremony in Huronia linking the two adjoining provinces Approval of these sug gestions was voiced following motion by Overend second ed by Mrs Wheeler and to be ar ranged by Mr Overend and Mr Jury May Be Last Year Here The latter told the meeting that 1954 might be his last year in Hur onia There was considerable pres sure from Southwestern Ontario to have him return to that area He intimated however that he would like to continue his work in Simcoe and Grey counties but that it he were to do 50 member municipalities would have to make their desires clearly known to the provincial government discussion
