Applications will be accepted until Aug. 15 with physical testing for all applicants planned for Aug. 19. at 7 p.m. Applicants must be a Canadian citi zen or a permanent resident of Canada, be between 18 and 60 years of age. meet minimum vision standards and hold a valid drivers licence. Auxiliary members of the Halton Regional Police Service will provide a minimum of 12 hours every month assisting regular members of the serv ice in their duties, including traffic, community events and foot patrols. Volunteer application forms can be obtained at any Halton Regional Police station. The Auxiliary Policing Unit cur rently consists of more than 30 mem bers and has been in operation since 1989. This unit is commanded by an inspector and assisted by two staff ser geants and four sergeants. Auxiliary officer; receive more than 100 hours of training, including legal training in powers of arrest, ethics and the Criminal Code, as well as. traffic direc tion duties, notebooks and the court process, and use of force training.
