Taxi driver from Oakville faces impaired driving charges Police called to the scene of an accident in north Oakville parking lot in the parking lot of the shopping mall at Upper Middle Road and Eighth Line shortly after 8 p.m. A taxi was found, still in drive, with its rear tires blown out and sparks flying as the wheels continued to spin, police said. According to police, a male driver appeared to be unconscious behind the wheel and responding officers broke the front passenger window to unlock the door and assist him. Damage to the other vehicle involved in the collision is not known, police said. The man found inside the taxi was transported to hospital as a precautionary measure and upon release from hospital was held for a bail hearing.
