The local fire department is joining depart ments across the province in supporting the Ontario Fire Marshal's 12 Days of Holiday Safety campaign. "December is traditionally one of the most dangerous months of the year for fatal fires," said Fire Chief Lee Grant. "We're asking Oakville resi dents to be aware of potential hazards and prac tice fire safety at home to help keep the holidays safe for everyone." This is the fourth year of the annual campaign and the first year Oakville Fire will be using social media to share daily fire safety tips with residents. The tips, and links to more information, will be posted on the Town of Oakville' s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/TownofOakville) and on Twitter (@townofoakville). Residents who share or retweet the tips will have a chance to win one of 12 home fire safety kits which include a smoke alarm, carbon mon oxide alarm and a flameless candle. One prize kit will be randomly awarded each business day un til Wednesday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve).
