Thursday, December 15, 1960 NORSHORE SENTINEL 11 Little League Champs, Beardmore LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS FETED Fortyâ€"five boys sat down to a turkey banquet sponsored by the Little League Baseball Association on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Curling Club, Beardmore. Mrs. W. Tuomaala and Mrs. Wm. Harnden convened the affair, assisted by Mrs. N. Kozak, Mrs. R. Clerihew, Mrs. C. Franz, Mrs. B. Reiners, Mrs. R. Schell and Bob Clerihew. Carlo Macchione said Grace. The boys expressed their appreciation to ladies and the team coaches by a hearty round of applause. Bill Harnden, a member of the executive of the association along with Tom Kelly and Nick Kozak, announced to the boys that hockey would be organized for this year as in the past and asked the co operation of the boys in caring for the equipment and premises at the rink. Following the banquet, the Recreation Committee trophy was presented to the Red Sox, coached by Bill Harnden, as the top team. Each member received a bright red melton cloth windbreaker with Red Sox, Little League Champions inscribed on a crest. The presentation was made by C. Pond, chairman of the Recreation Committee. D.R. Clarke donated, part of the cost of the cost of the jackets. Among the guests were B. Reiners who served with V. Kennedy as equipment manager. Houston Rink Wins Red Rock Bonspiel Tom Houston skipped his rink to victory in the first event of the Red Rock Curling club mixed bonspiel over the weekend topping Lloyd Stanâ€" sell’s foursome in the final. Members of the winning rink were Houston, Barb Gagne, Olilie Imhoff and Lee Imhoff. Stansell had Olive Rajala at 3rd Gordie Stewart as 2nd and Bunny McAuley as lead. Winners of the second event were skip Bill Ska-bar, Gladsy Young, Mr. Swanton, and Irene Taylor. On the runner up rink were skip Ron Smith, 3rd Mabel Crump, 2nd Frank McAuley and lead Betty Smith.
