REGULATIONS REGARDING MIGRATORY BIRDS OPEN SEASONS (Both Dates Inclusive' Ducks (other than Eiders) Throughout the remainder of the Province : September 25 to December 3 5, except in the Counties of Essex, Kent and Elgin the open season for geese (other than Brant) shall be from November 1 to January 10. The Northern District of Ontario is defined as that part of the Province lying north and west of a line described as follows: Commencing at the southwest angle of Bruce County'; thence in a general easterly directioh along the southerly boundaries of Bruce and Grey Counties to the southwest angle of Nottawasaga Township in the County of Simcoe, along the south boundaries of Nottawasaga. Sunnidale and Vespra Townships tb the line of mean high water of Lake Simcoe, along the said line of mean high water on the south Sid$ of Lake Simcoe to the northwest angle of Brock Townshin in the County of Brock Township in the County of Ontario, and along the north boundary of Brock Township to the centre of King's Highway No. 12; thence southerly along the centre line of the said Highway to the centre line of the right-of-way of the Canadian' PaciJ Railway in the vicinity of Myrtl thence in a general easterly direct along the said centre line to the of Peterborough, along the centri line of King's Highway "No. 7 to th« west boundary of Laiiark County) along the west and south boundaries* of Lanark County to the -line of mean' high-water on the north.side of Rideau! CLOSE SEASONS There is a close season throughout the year on Brant, Wood Ducks, Swans, Cranes, Curlew, Willets, God-wits, Upland Plover, Black-bellied and Golden Plover, Greater and Lesser Yellow-legs, Avocets, Dowitchers, Knots, Oyster-catchers, Phalaropes, Stilts, Surf-birds, Turnstones and all shore birds except Wilson's Snipe and Woodcock, There is a close season throughout the year on the following non-game birds : Auks, Auklets, Bitterns, Fulmars, Ganngts, Grebes, Guillemots, Gulls, Herons, Jaegars, Loons, Murres, Petrels, Puffins, .Shearwaters and Terns; and there is a close season throughout the year on the following insectivorous birds : Bobolinks, Catbirds, Chickadees, Cuckoos, Flickers, Fly-Catchers, Grosbeaks, Hummnigbirds, Kinglets, Martins, Meadowlarks, Nighthawks or Bull-bats, Nuthatchers, Orioles, Robins, Shrikes, Swallows, Swifts, Tanagers, Twitmce, - Thrushes, Vireos, Warblers, Waxwings, Whip-poor-wills, Woodpeckers, and Wrens, and ail other perching birds which feed entirely or chiefly on insects. No person shall kill, hunt, capture, injure, take or molest any migratory game birds during the close see and no person shall sell, expose for sale, offer ;for sale, buy, trade traffic in any migratory game bird at any time. The killing, hunting, capturing, taking or molesting of migratory insectivorous and migratory norr-game birds, their nests or eggs is prohibited. The possession of migratory game birds killed during the open season is allowed in Ontario until March 31 following the open season. BAG LIMITS Ducks (exclusive of merganzers) 12 in any day; Geese (other than Brant) 5 in any day; Rails, Coots and Gal-linules, 25 in the aggregate in any day; Wilson's or Jack Snipe 8 in day; Woodcock 8 in any day; and not more than 150 Ducks (exclusive of mergansers); 50 geese (other than Brant); 100 Woodcock, and 50 Wilson's Snipe in one season. GUNS, APPLIANCES anfl HUNTING METHODS FORBIDDEN--The use of an automatic (auto-loading) gun with a magazine that has not been permanently plugged or altered so that it cannot carry, more than two cartridges, or rifle, or swivel or machine gun, or battery, or any gun larger than number 10 gauge, or any weapon other than a gun or a bow and arrow; and the use of live birds as decoys, or any aeroplane, power-boat, sail boat, or night-light, and shooting from any motor or wheeled vehicle or a vehicle 1o which a draught animal is attached. The hunting of migratory game birds by the use or aid of baiting with grain or other artificial food is prohibited. Persons using blinds or decoys for hunting migratory game birds are urged to consult the Regulations for details of the restrictions upon this method of hunting. For special restrictions about hunting on waters of Rondeau Bay, see Regulations. The shooting of migratory game birds earlier than one-half hour before sunrise or later than one-half hous after sunset is prohibited. The penalty for violation of the migratory bird laws is a fine of not more than three hundred dollars and not less than ten dollars, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or both fine and imprisonment. SHOPPERS ASKED TO SAVE PAPER Retailers, and their customers are urged by the Prices Board to use paper as ^sparingly as posible in the packaging of parcels. While wrapping paper is necessary for many articles, there are others, buch as those already packaged, which do not require it and where its use becomes waste. Wherever it is possible to eliminate wrapping, the Board asks that it should be done so that limited supplies of paper may be conserved for essential uses. FINAL PAVMEHT OF 1943 INCOME TAX DUE 31st AUGUST, 1944 Inasmuch as the Income Tax payments that fell due on 30th April last were postponed to 31st August, this will remind you that any balance due must be remitted to your District Inspector of Income Tax on or before 31st August, 1944 to avoid penalty. To be sure that the payments are correctly credited to your account, your remittance should be accompanied by a letter showing clearly your full name and address and stating that the payment is to be applied to your 1943 income tax.
