Blades lose showdown with Texas Tornados, host Hamilton Red Wings Saturday night at Ice Sports Despite a respectable 2-1 record, the Oakville Blades did not make it out of pool play at this past week's Showcase tournament in Newmarket. The upside is that they should be rest ed for an important weekend in their provincial junior A west conference. This Saturday, 6:45 p.m. at Ice Sports, they host another second place battle against the Hamilton Red Wings. At the Newmarket Showcase tourna ment, things went according to script -- well, maybe not quite how the Blades would have written in it. They were in a pool with the defending champion Texas Tornados and they lost 4-1. The Blades then easily handled the weak rivals in their division, 5-2 over Buffalo Lightning (9-24-3-2) and 7-1 over Pickering (9-20-7 in the south division).
