From 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., all are invited to stop by Central, Glen Abbey, White Oaks, Iroquois Ridge and Woodside branches for complimentary Starbucks coffee and an opportunity to meet with staff and learn something new about your library. Library staff will be equipped with iPads and other devices to showcase some of the library's most innovative offerings like downloadable eMagazines and free music/movie streaming. As new technologies continue to shape the way we live, library services similarly evolve. "A big part of our strategic plan is to make services, programs and resources more accessible to the community," said Charlotte Meissner, CEO, Oakville Public Library. "The focus will be on our digital resources as we have heard this is an area some of our customers may not know about or may be intimidated to try or ask about." The idea is to introduce some of these wonderful resources to visitors in a relaxed branch setting and showcase how they may provide easier access to desired library materials, consumer reports and community information. OPL encourages Rediscover Your Library event attendees to bring a non-perishable food item for its seasonal food drive.
