Larlier in the dav the Hawks won an easier Tykes open with close loss The Oakville Hawks tyke rep team dropped its first game of the season 5-3 to EG New market on May 28. The opposing squad opened the scoring in the first period and notched a second goal before Ben Heidecker added one for the Hawks. Greg Piper added two in the third period. A great effort by the whole team. Cobras win indoor title The Oakville Cobras U-17 rep team will represent Oakville this year, playing in the province's most challeng ing league, the Ontario Youth Soccer League's provincial level. The Cobras couldn't have asked lor a better warm-up to the outdoor season, winning the Ontario Indoor Soccer League provincial U-17 title. Redgales pick up international hardware The Oakville Redgales U-l I rep soccer team brought back the title from the Amherst International Memorial Tournament. The Oakville team flexed some offensive muscle, winning its preliminary games 5-0. 7-0. 2-0 and 8-0. The final was against the Greece Eclipse, w ho had put up the toughest fight in the preliminary round (2-0). At the hall, the Eclipse had cause for hope, down only 2-1 But Oakville turned it up a notch in the second half to post another easy win. 6 - 1.
