The objective was to remind citizens, and candidates, that cyclists are also voters, and to show support for cycling and cycling infrastructure in Oakville. This was emphasized by the photo opportunity outside the Seniors Centre where the cyclists lined up holding signs reading, "I Bike I Vote." Participants were of all ages and abilities, riding a whole spectrum of bikes from electric to hybrids and mountain bikes to carbon road bikes. As a member of the Oakville Cycling Club, it was great to see other cyclists from the club participating. But even more encouraging was to meet the wide range of people who are embracing cycling and feel it is an important issue in this municipal election. There were even three municipal candidates who joined the ride. Let's hope all municipal leaders take note of the importance of cycling. David S.
