After all, the factory has sold upgrades for its cars for years. But how big/small should/can you go? It' s crucial to buy a whee*-and-tire combination that fits your car/truck/minivan so as not to afect gas mileage, speedometer readings, the ABS and traction control systems as well as the power at the wheels. All are affected when the overall height of the tire-andwheel combination is taller or shorter than what came from the factory. There's a general rule of thumb that helps, however. Called `plus sizing', you simply add one tire size (to 235 from 225, for example) and reduce its aspect ratio by one unit (to 60 from 70, for example) for each inch in rim diameter increase (to 17 from 16 inches, for example). For your exact application, consult a shop that specializes in wheel and tire upgrades.
