www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, November 7, 2014 | 12 Still no clues in case of missing man, says spouse by Michael Gregory Oakville Beaver Staff The wife of missing Burlington man Janis Ozollapa believes his month-long disappearance may be suspicious and security camera footage showing a man running near her husband's abandoned truck in Oakville isn't him. "I don't believe it's him," said Ozollapa's wife Patricia Harris Wednesday, describing how she's seen the blurry, dimly-lit security tape. "He has a very distinct walk and he just never runs. "There have been times where I've gotten so frustrated with him when we're in a hurry to get somewhere and instead of picking it up and running, he'll walk faster -- I've never seen him run," she said. Ozollapa, a contractor and the owner of Oak Leaf Renovation, was last seen leaving a work site on Weeping Willow Drive in Oakville at approximately 2 p.m. on Sept. 30. The day the 50-year-old went missing was no different than any other, Harris said. Occasionally, Ozollapa would still be asleep when Harris, a nurse, left for work in the morning, but on that day, he was sitting on the couch while their two-yearold daughter Kaysie was playing nearby, said his wife. "It was just a normal day," Harris said. "I got up and went to work and that was the last time I saw him." As was routine, Ozollapa would take their daughter to daycare and Harris would pick her up later in the afternoon. "I've tried so hard to think if there was anything unusual, any warning signs that I may have missed, and there's nothing," she said. Later that night, Harris didn't suspect anything out of ordinary when her husband wasn't home from work when she went to bed. "He can work pretty late sometimes," said Harris, describing Ozollapa as some- Janis Ozollapa times being at a job site until 11 p.m. or midnight. "Especially if he had jobs lined up and he wanted to get a job done to move onto the next one." Ozollapa's black Chevrolet Avalanche would later turn up on Oct. 10 in the rear lot of the Lighting Centre on Cross Avenue, near the Oakville GO station. Police Patricia Harris, the wife of Janis Ozollapa, of Burlington, who was last seen leaving a job site in Oakville Sept. 30. | photo by Eric Riehl Oakville Beaver would confirm the vehicle was empty and there was no indication of foul play. Video surveillance obtained by police from a nearby building showed an unidentified man running westbound on Cross Avenue shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 1. Harris said she's speculated about the possibility of her husband using public transit, but doubts it's him in the video or that he'd be going to the GO station. "He's not someone who would hop on a GO train. He wouldn't even consider doing something like that," she said. "He's in his truck wherever he has to go." Police have appealed to the public for any witnesses to come forward, including the drivers of a motorcycle, pickup truck and taxicab as all the vehicles were observed in the security tape.
