By Don Wilcox The Bowmanville Cowan Pontiac - Buick Junior Cs won both halves of a double header series against the Port Perry MoJacks by a 10 to 2 count in Port Perry Saturday night and a 5 to 2 count Sunday night in the Eagles' nest. The Eagles have added another player to their roster, Gerard Morrison, who came up through the local minor ranks excelling each year he played. Morrison will add a new dimension to the Eagle defence with his style of play. Eagles also have another new player in the lineup, Jamie Eyman, who knows his way around the league having played with Port Hope and Port Perry. Eyman bas a great pair of wheels. The Eagles came to play in Port Perry Saturday night as proven by the scoreboard. MoJack on the other hand came to use the stick for anything but playing the puck which provided the fans with a penalty filled game. Eagles who can also play it both ways were assessed their share of the penalties. Randy MacDonald repeatedly broke up the MoJacks' attack with his tireless skating on the penalty kill. Tim Vanstone in the Eagle net turned in another steady performance, improving his goals against average. MoJacks' Phil Cochrane who set a new record of seven goals saved in a single game last week agains Port Hope was held to a single point. Eagles' first period scorers: Jerry Johnston from Brad Godfrey, Jerry Leddy from Brad Geoffrey and Gerard Morrison, Wayde Preston from Stan Greenham and Rick Bain, Leddy from Godfrey and Johnston, Randy MacDonald from Don Farrow and Carl Chambers. Second period, Leddy from Morrison, MacDonald from Preston and Morrison, Chambers from Morrison and MacDonald, Greg Brunt from ick Bain and Preston. The only third period Eagle goal, Farrow from linemates Chambers and MacDonald. MoJacks' two goals by Tim Kame and Charles Brown, both power play efforts. Eagles scored five power play goals. Morrison helped to set up three of them, not bad for his first game in the Eagle colors. The Sunday home game was a complete reversal when only three minor penalties illustrating Eagles can play it both ways. As happens so often after a big effort on the road a team has a letdown at home. Eagles were sluggish for the first two periods then came to life in the third period, scoring three goals. Mark Berney was back in the lineup after being out for a month and as expected his timing was off. The Eagle scoring was started by veteran Brad Godfrey, setup perfectly by Jerry Leddy on a passout. Rookie Brent Clemens gave Eagles a two goal lead, Greg Brunt returned his own re- bound to setup Clemens. Port Perry tied the score in the second period. Phil Cochrane scoring from Mike Healey and Dave Alexander. The tying goal from Steve Jones when Tim Vanstone went for the shot which was going wide of the net, deflect- ing into his net. The third period was all Eagles. The game winner came from the stick of Don Farrow. Randy MacDonald gaining control of the puck on strong forechecking, assist- ing. The insurance goal came from the veteran line, Godfrey scoring from a passout by Leddy after Johnston gained control of the puck both assisting on a powerplay effort. The final goal, a picture play, Gerard Morrison passing to Farrow wbo turned on the burners, broke down ice, setting up MacDonald wbo scored from directly in front of the crease. Poe Wees ie Brooklin-Whithy43-3 Dominate Uxbridge 4 to O The Walter Frank Major Pee Wee Toros played two O.M.H.A. Lakeshore League games last week, playing to a draw in one and winning the other. Last Tuesday night in Brooklin, the Toros were held to a 3 - 3 tie by a vastly-improved Whitby- Brooklin squad. There was no scoring until the second period when Bowmanville's Jon Clieff blasted one from his position on the point, catching the top corner of the net. The assist went to his defence partner Pierre St. Amand. Lorne Whitmarsh scored the next goal, assisted by Tom McLaughlin and Chris Dreossi. Bowmanville's last goal was scored by Chris Lee, the assists going to his linemates Brad Cruess and Brian Heard. The third period belonged to the home squad as they took control of the game. The Toros felt they had the game won and stopped back- checking, allowing the Whitby-Brooklin shooters to free-wheel in the Bowmanville zone. Alan Ulrich was in goal and allowed the three goals, but had it not been for sorne fantastic saves, the score would have been much higher. On Saturday night in Bow- manville, the Real Estate crew returned to their regular form, displaying a crisp passing and skating attack, defeating Uxbridge to the tune of 4-0. Brent Neill scored the game-winning goal at the 4:27 mark of the opening stanza, assisted by Chris Dreossi and defenceman Gleri Duncan. Chris Lee scored the second Toro goal at the 1:35 mark of the middle period, assisted by Brad Cruess and Brian Jeard. Peterborough opened the scor- ing with their only goal of the game at 1:01 of the first period. Bowmanville evened the score at the 3:05 mark of the first period on a goal by Brad Carnegie with the assists going to Jason Hellam and Brad Rushak. Things became very tense as John Begg was assessed two consecutive penalties and D & R had to play short handed for almost four minutes. They certainly rose to the occasion and kept Peterborough at bay and the score tied at one. Determination and great team play paid off for Bowmanville at the 5:28 mark of the third period when Brad Carnegie notched his second goal of the game. This time the assists went to Britt Cole and Gareth Stone. Burke Lush and the four rear guards, John Begg, Mike Kane, Chris Hall and Mark Tripp deserve honorable mention as they held Peter- Pierre St. Amand scored from the blue-line, for the third goal, assisted by Brent Neill and Tom McLaughlin. The final goal of the contest was notched by Brad Cruess, assisted by Chris Lee. Alan Ulrich was in goal, picking up the well-deserved shutout, the fourth one of the year for the Walter Frank squad. The team now has a record of 13 wins, two losses and two ties.
