Cougars' early second period play goal by Jim West took some of the attack away from Eagles but by way of encouragement and intelligent coaching by Paul Robinson they gradually regained momentumn Don Farrow's low drive beat Cougar's goaler, setup perfectly by Carl Chambers to put Eagles back on track. Brad Godfrey tied the score unassisted cashing in on one of many chances by the ambitious Eagle attackers. The Eagles won that period outshooting Cougars 15 to 1. The third period was a period of near misses at botb ends of the rink. Cougars' Daline gave Cougars the go ahead goal, cashing in on a rebound. Eagles came roaring back on a goal by Don Farrow who logged close to 35 minutes of ice time, assists going to his hard working linemate Carl Chambers and Randy MacDonald. Kyle Campbell's deflection goal for Cougars looked like the game winner. Bowmanville controlled the play for the first haîf of the game but despite two breakaways and numerous other scoring opportunities they were unable to get the puck past Markham's goalie. Markham's first goal of the game came at the 3:59 mark of the second period wben Darren Matias scored. Paul Noad, Dan McCormick and Barry Stefuriak each added goals in the final frame to bring their total to 4. The Toros' only goal was scored by Danny Weir with Chris Michelson and Deryk Clark assisting at the 13:13 mark. Checker's Variety Toros travelled to Bay Ridges on Monday, Dec. 10 to play Pickering. The Toros bit the mark early in the opening period wben Darcy Huber scored from Gordie Rogers and Jay Sweet. Less than 2 minutes later, Toros Chris Michelson carried the puck down the ice and laid a pass from the corner onto Robert Geidlinger's stick' and he promptly shot the puck into the net. Pickering's Andy Stenhouse put bis team on the scoreboard at the 8: 17 mark. Scott Heard got bis own to 1. N. H.L. team a t Civic Auditorium. In this exhibition game, Cbecker's Variety Bantamrs defeated their opponents 7-4. Scoring for the Toros in the first period were Scott Heard and day Sweet; in the second frame Chris Perkins and Doug Roy and in the last period Darcy Huber, Robert Geidlinger and Ray Cummings two. Assists went to Deryk Clark, Darcy Huber 2, Gordie Rogers 2, Robert Geidlinger 2, Scott Heard 1, and day Sweet. Telco scored once in the opening frame and tbree times in the final period. In another exhibition game against Belleville on Saturday at Memorial Arena, the Toros wiped their visitors 15-2. Although their oppunents play in a league with Triple A teams from Oshawa and Peterborough, tbey provided no opposition for their hosts. Jay Sweet scored four goals and bat tricks were scored hy two of the Toros players, Chris Michelson and Deryk Clark. Other scorers for the local team were Scott Heard 2, Robert Geidlinger, Roger Hornsby. and Chris Perkins with assists going to Robert Geidlinger 3, Darcy Huber 5, Deryk Clark 3, Scott Heard 2, Doug Roy 3, Roger Hornsby 2, Gordie Rogers 2, Chris Perkins 1 and Danny Weir 1. On Sunday evening at Darlington, Cbecker's Variety Minor Bantams met Markham in a rescheduled league game. Bowmanville bit the score- board at the 4:59 mark of the opening frame when Scott Heard passed the puck from behind Markbam's net to Doug Roy whose quick shot bit home. The Toros added three more in the middle period to_ Franks Put Down Cowans, Firths take Spencers In the first game, Frank's and Cowans battled for first place, saw Frank's emerge victorious. Cowan's goalie didn't have much of a chance, with the three and two on one plays that Frank's had in his end of the ice. Goals for Frank's - R. Hall with 2 goals and 2 assists, B. Bickle with 2 goals an-d 1 assist, J. Colwell with 1 goal and 2,assists, S. Allen with 1 goal. Assists - J. Humenick, R. Woolner, P. Bowen with 1 go into the last 15 minutes of play with a 4-0 lead. Deryk Clark scored from Scott Heard and Darcy Huber when they had a man advantage. Scott Heard with Darcy Huber made it 4 after picking up the puck from Jay Sweet. Markham scored twice in the last frame on goals by Brian Atkinson and Paul Noad. Doug Roy scored his second of the night from Scott Heard. Eric Peebles played another strong game in net. each, B. Evans witb 2. Goals for Cowans -, M. Cornell wiýth 3, and K. Ras- mussen witb 1. Assists - S. Elliot with 3, F. Braybrook wîth 2 and M. Ormiston with 1. In the second game Firths and Spencers played a fast paced game with Firths end- ing up onl top. But, we have to give a lot of credit to Spencers for playing as well as they did with seven players against a full club like Firths. Goals for Firths - P. Siemon with 2 goals and 2 assists, J. Taylor with 2 goals and 2 assists, B. Prentice, K. Shield, A. Bowen with 1 each. Assists - B. Howes with 2, D. Colwell, B. Prentice, M. Shields, B. Thinel and S. Hogarth with 1 eacb. At tbis point in the game Pickering's attack started to penetrate the Toros' defence and two quick goals by Brian Bauldry and Kei th Ridley- brought them witbin fighting distance. in tbe final frame, Andy Stenbouse's goal brought them to witbin one goal of the Toros. With 2:10 left in the gamne, Raymond Cummings added another to bring the Toros' total to 6. Pickering continued to be a menace as Stuart Carson scored with 47 seconds left in the game to make a total of 5. Erie Peebles played a steady game in net for the local team. Tuesday nigbt saw the Toros on the road again as they travelled to Brooklin witb a 4-3 win, their first on Whitby's borne ice. Witby opened their attack early in the game when David Gallagher- and John Allan eacb scored on goalie Eric Peebles. The second period belonged to the Toros. Their first marker, scored by Deryk Clark and assisted by Scott Heard and Doug Roy came at the 3:14 mark. Jay Sweet's shot from the corner was goal number two with Gordie Rogers and Chris Michelson assisting. An unassisted goal by Darcy Huber put the Toros in the lead. Before the period ended, Ray Cummings scored a sbort-handed goal to end that frame wî,vtb a 4-2, lead. Roger Hornsby and Darcy Huber picked up assists. The only scoring of tbe final frame was done by Whitby's Joey Nieuwendyk at the 9:16 mark. The penalties were evenly distributed with the bosts taking 8 and the Toros 7. On Friday, Dec. 14 the Toros played the first of three weekend encounters against the Oshawa Telco Little Ail Season'.
