12, 1979 FLASHBACK - 25 YEARS AGO - An award of a Gruen watch, donated by Hooper's Jewellers will be awarded to the most popular player on the Baron's hockey team, as chosen by the fans, at the end of the season. FLASHBACK - 10 YEARS AGO- Mike Donoghue scored his first "Junior A" goal, 30- seconds into the second period and a few minutes later drew an assist for his team, the Oshawa Generals, who went on to defeat Niagara Falls 7 - 5 last Sunday night. Also starring for the Generals was another Bow- manville minor hockey graduate Tom Simpson. KENDAL - Eagles executive for next season, are Ralph Kennedy, Jerry Thompson, Richard Foster, Fraser Wallace, Dave Strutt, Dave Pultz, Dennis Knapp and Bill Robinson. BRIAN SUDDARD - skip, and his rink, vice Rich Vessey, second Mike Jelks, and lead John Flegg, won the B side of the Consols playdowns at Oshawa Curling Rmnk recently and qualified to play in the district playdowns at Uxbridge in January. TERRY LEWIS - coach of the Cobourg Cougars and Bill Bullen, coach of the Port Hope Panthers Jr. C hockey teams will share coaching duties at the Jr. C Ail Star hockey game, hosted by the defending Bowmanville Eagles and current leaders in the league, to be held here Wednesday, December 26th, at 2 p. m. followed by a dinner at six p.m. Tickets are available to the public for the gaine and the dinner. SUPER BOWL - As we near the end of December, every Saturday and Sunday it's rough on wives whose husbands are football buffs. They should really have their own tele- vision sets so the rest of the family has an opportunity to watch other programs. Mark Berney, also of the Cowan Junior Cs, tells us hie hopes to return this weekend following his injury. No word has corne through on Tom Dwyer and Stew Roberts was not playing hast Sunday after bis one game workout against Lindsay Muskies when he may have seen enough rubber to last him for several weeks. WaItor Franks Pee West Defeat Boy Ridge$ Twice The Walter Frank Major Pee Wees completed a busy week of O.M.H.A. Lakeshore League action on Saturday night, playing five games in seven nights, picking up victories in ail of the games. Last Monda y night, the Toros travelled to Don Beer Arena in Bnay Ridges and squeaked by thbe host club by the score of 4-3. Bowman- ville's Brent Neill opened the scorîng wben hie connected on a lyset up by Tom MCughlin and Lorne Whit- marsh. Jeff Dawson made it 2-0 when he scored, tbe assists going1 to bis centreman Greg Watson and Chris Lee. Bay Ridges scored at the 14:35 mark of tbe period to make it closer. Then Toro's Greg Watson scored the third goal wîtl ime assists going to defenceman Scott Barcla and Jeff Daw- son. Lorne WVhitmarsb picked up the fourth Bowmanville g oal, nssisted by Brian Heard. Bay Ridges scored the last two g'oals opf tbe game but tbe Toros bung on for a close win. Alan Ulrich was in goal for tbe Real Estate crew and was very steady. Missing from action for Bowmanville were Chris Clifton, Paul Robîchaud Glen Duncan and Braci Cruess. On Thursday evening, the Toros travelled to Markbam, where tbey won to the tune of 4-1 in a very well-played contest. Jeff Dawson scored the opening goal after 2:37. minutes of play, assisted by his centreman Greg Watson. Watson picked up the game- winning goal at the 9:55 mark, assistedt by Scott Barclay. Markham scored the only goal of the middle period, Rob Storey the marksman. Dawson picked up bis se- cond of the game, assisted by defenceman Chris Dreossi and Brian Heard. Heard scored the final goal of the game, assisted by Watson. Chris Clifton was in goal and made several glittering saves, part- icularly in the opening min- utes o f the game. Robichaud, Cruess and Duncan were absent. On Saturday evening, Bay Ridges carne to town where they were defeated 4-1 by the Walter Frank Pee Wees. Tom McLaughlin scored the open- ing goal after only 33 seconds of action. Assists on tbe play went to bis linemates Lorne Whitmarsh and Brent Neill. Jeff Dawson scored the game-winner, unassisted, at the 7:02 mark of tbe middle perîod. Lorne Witmarsh stole the puck off a Bay Ridges defender and scored at the 5:05 mark of the final period.
