JAMES ALBERT FAIR The death occurred of James Albert Fair, aged 56, on Tuesday, November 6, 1979, at Memorial Hospital, Bowman- ville. He had been ill for two years. Born in Port Hope, and educated at St. Gregory's, Oshawa, and the Oshawa Collegiate and Vocational Institute, he was married to Dorothy Barton on November 29, 1941. A resident at 107 Seugog Street, Bowmanville, for 38 years, he had previously resided in Oshawa. He was the son of Amy and Reginald Fair. Employed by General Motors of Canada for 38 years, he had retired about one and a half years ago as a supervisor. A well known local tenor, he was a member of the Golden Legionnaires Choir, the General Motors Choir, a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, a member of Branch 178 Royal Canadian Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Bowmanville Lawn Bowling Club. From 1941 - 1946 he served during World War Il with the Canadian Grenadier Guards. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Dorothy, two daughters Patricia (Mrs. H. Williams), Seagrave, Lyn (Mrs. L. Branigan), Oshawa, a son William of Bowmanville. Dorothy (Mrs. D. Larkin), Audrey (Mrs. R. McIntyre), Marilyn (Mrs. F. Smith), Donna (Mrs. P. Harris), all of Oshawa, Evelyn (Mrs. J. Meisenhemier), Ottawa, and two grandchildren, Michael and Ryan Williams. He was predeceased by a brother William, R.C.A.F. Mr. Fair rested at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home until funeral services on Thursday, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with Father Frank Mihelic officiat- ing. The General Motors and Golden Legionnaire Choirs provided funeral music. Pallbearers were Messrs. John Meisenheimer, John Monahan, Fred Smith, Norman Hannan, Harold Kirt- ley and Bob Kellar. Among the many beautiful floral tributes received in his memory were offerings from the Bowmanville Lawn Bowl- ing Club, General Motors Truck Plant, Canadian Tire Ltd., Whitby Physiciatric Hospital and the Golden Legionnaires. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. HAZEL R. MALLEY A former school teacher at Enterprise and Haydon Public Schools, Hazel R. Malley, aged 80, passed away on Friday, November 9, 1979, in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Daughter of Clifford and Annie (Heard) Brown, she was born in Clarke Township, and educated at Brown's Public School, Newcastle High School, and Peterborough Normal School. On October 3, 1925 she was married to J. Cecil Malley. Ill for several years, she had been a resident of Marnwood Nursing Home since November 1977, and a patient of Memorial Hospital since February 1979. She had previously resided at R.R. 1, Orono. A devoted wife and mother she was a member of Newcastle United Church, and of the U.C.W. Surviving are her daughter Wanda McNeil, son R. Grant Malley, three sisters, Mrs. E. Caswell (Hilda), Mrs. W.T. Brunt, (Fern), Mrs. T. Wilson (June), two brothers Ray and Sid Brown, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Reverend David Spivey, conducted funeral services at the Morris Funeral Chapel on Monday. Mrs. J. Albert Cole was the organist. Pallbearers were grandsons Deçnis Malley and James Morris and nephews Leigh, Brad and Cam Wilson and Byron Brunt. Many donations to charity and floral tokens were received in her memory among which were tributes from the staff of Walter Frank Real Estate, the General Motors Truck Plant, and from the Newcastle U.C.W. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. COULSON HENRY RUITER 111 for seven months, Coulson Henry Ruiter, aged 57, passed away in Memorial Solina W.I. The November meeting of Solina W.I. was held on November 14 at the Communi- ty Hall. Mrs. J. Snowden, who was our delegate to the Area Convention in Toronto, gave a report of the highlights of the 77th Central Area Convention. We voted that the program for our luncheon on March 19, 1980 would be a fashion show from Eaton's in Oshawa. Mrs. F. Watson, District Director reported that the Fun Fair held in October at Blackstock had been the best one yet both in attendance and profit. Mrs. Dorothy Pascoe, con- vener of Agriculture was called on for the program. The Motto "Life is like a seed. It grows according to the care it gets" was commented on by Mrs. H. Knox, who read a selection from "The Patch- word Book" expressing the thought of the motto very well. Miss Gayla Taylor favored with a piano solo. Our guest speaker, Miss Annette Gall, exchange student from Australia, was introduced by Mrs. D. Taylor. She told us about her home in Benella, Australia and also showed -slides of different places, animals and birds of Australia. When she left her home January 14, 1979 the temperature was 42 degrees C and she arrived in Toronto a day later January 15 it was very cold. The Roll Call "Something I would like to see in Australia" was answered after seeing the pictures. The meeting closed with singing "0 Canada" and a social time was enjoyed. Hospital, Bowmanville, on Friday, November 16, 1979. He was the son of the late Elsie and Albert Ruiter. Born at Providence, in Darlington Township, he was educated at Clarke Union and Bowman- ville Central Public School. On November 17, 1945, he was married in Toronto, to Catherine Abell. A transport driver for 40 years, he had retired five years ago due to poor health. He had resided at 74 Simpson Avenue for 25 years, previously residing on Ontario Street. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Catherine, daughters Linda (Mrs. W. Bates), Carol (Mrs. R. Barrett), both of Bowman- ville, .sons Donald of Bramp- ton, and Bill of Oshawa, eight grandchildren, three sisters Officers Installed at Beehive Rebekah Lodge These are the new officers of Beehive Rebekah Lodge No. 125, Bowmanville who were installed recently. He was predeceased by a sister (Mrs. Eileen Heard) and a brother Wallace Ruiter. Archdeacon Thomas Gracie, of St. John's Anglican Church where Mr. Ruiter was a member, officated at the funeral services held on Monday at the Morris Funeral Chapel. Mrs. J. Albert Cole was the organist. Pallbearers were Messrs. Allen Clarke, Ross Wright, Bob Hilditch, Murray Bate, James White and Lloyd Malley. Floral tokens were received from the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Bell Telephone Co. Ltd., and many donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Fitness fits in. I hope you will find room to print the story I sent from the collection of other people's Memories. I detect a kindred spirit in the lady who writes about Henrietta. I really enjoyed hearing about the family's experience in the rabbit raising venture.
