Fine 'Weatherfor Sidewalk Sale IROWMANVILLE, ONTARIO, JULY 25, 1979 SECTION TWO Bowmanville merchants made the most of excellent weather and a newly refurb- ished main street when they held their annual Sidewalk Carnival Days. The sidewalk sale began Thursday, July 19 and ended Saturday, July 21, with lots of customers turning out for bargains. Included in the Sidewalk sale was the official opening of Bowmanville's front street on Thursday morning at 10:30 arn. The colorful ceremony included congratulations from many business and govern- ment officials includini! Hon. Allan Lawrence, Durham- Northumberland MP, Sam Cureatz, MPP for Durham East and Newcastle Mayor Garnet Rickard. To mark the re-opening of the main street, a cloud of several hundred balloons was released and persons finding a balloon from the sidewalk sale have until this afternoon to turn it in to D & R Sports and receive a prize. The first bal- loon was returned by Steve Skene. The second was return- ed by Betty DeJager and the third by Ted DeJager. One of the more distant balloons was snagged by a boater in Lake Ont ario.
