Members of the Bowmanville Arthritis Society are already making plans for their annual fund-raising drive which is to be held this September during Arthritis Month. fare of $3.00 per aduit and $1.00 per child. The bus is scheduled. to leave Blackstock at 9:30 a.m. at a cost of $1.50 per person. Entrance to the Riverview Park and Zoo is free. The train at the park is 35 cents. Anyone wishing to attend, please sign up at the school. The Graduation Party for four year olds is scheduled for June lst. Many surprise events are planned including grad-buttons and a special performance play. Once again this year the Nursery School will co- operate the concession booth at the Annual Tractor Pull on July 14 with the Evening unit of the U.C.W. Talya Moore will represent the U.C.W. and Louise Swain the Nursery School. Many volunteers are needed for this project and should contact either of these capable girls. Member of the Board, Judy Crawford presented each of the outgoing officers with an attractive candle holder from Luke's Country Store, as a token of appreciation for the year's hard work. A large 'number of Blackstock area folk were involved in the Pioneer Days at the Scugog Shores Museum opening over the weekend. Many others attended either Saturday or Sunday to view the many displays and demonstrations that were taking place. BH Band Assembles for Portritâ Following Competition inz Toronto Members of the Bowmanville High School Band posed for this photo last week following competition in an international festi val held in Toronto on the Victoria Day Weekend. The band won an honorable mention trophy in the parade competition and placed sixth out of a class of nine bands in the concert competition. The band took part in the marching competition in Ontario Place on Saturday, May 19, On Sunday, May 20, the group played in the concert and sight reading contest. A Fine Mess of Fish Pat Murphy of Bowmanville had a run of.good luck on Frîday, May lBth, when he hauled in these four rainbow trout at Vanstone's Mill. Upon investigation she found that they had been launched by some school children in Agincourt to mark the opening of a new school. Mrs. Roy Taylor spent Mother's Day weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Anson Taylor at their country home at Walker's, Point, on Lake Muskoka. They attended service at St. James Anglican Church at Gravenhurst and enjoyed Mother's Day dinner at Muskoka Sands on, Lake Muskoka. The Senior Citizens had 18 tables for their weekly card party. Gerald Kelly and family. Mrs. McDougald of St. Mary's spent a short time with ber daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lanmer and boys. Mrs. Mary Sheen of Toronto joined hen daughter Miss Susan Sheenand together they enjoyed the weekend at their cottage in Muskoka. Blackstock Nursery School Meeting Over forty wene in attendance on May 8th at the meeting room in the Recreational Centre for the Blackstock Nursery School Meeting. After time was given for the purpose of choosing the children's pictures, ballot sheets were distributed for election of officers for 1979-80. The new officens are: President-Chris Cliff; Vice Presîdent Beth Schryburt; Treasurer-Susan Ellis and Secretary-Joanne Lee. Parents with children starting or returning to Nursery School in the fal placed them in tîme slots. Registration will, be open to the public on May 23 when Open House'will take place. Any and ail are welcomne to attend this great event at the Rec. Centre on the 23rd. Ellen Russell volunteered to paint the brick wall in the Nursery School room. Beth Schryburt will prepare a photographic display of Nursery School activities for the Open House.
