Fresb Ontario straw- bernies will start to appear about the second week of June and begin to peak about June 18. Whether buying or picking your own, always select red, f ully ripened bernies. Do not wash &orhbull theëm-until tbey are to be used. Refrigenate tbem uncovered, spread oit on a tray. For best quality, use wîtbin 2 to 3 days. Ontario green onions appear in June and continue throughout the summer. Cboose onions witb crisp, green tops and thin necks. Trim the root ends, then wrap tbem ini plastic and store in the refrigerator. Enjoy tbe perky flavour of green onions alI summer. Dairymple, Agricultural Representative DURHAM FARMERS TO VISIT NEW LISKEARD FARMING AREA The Durham County Soul and Crop Improvement Asso- ciation bas made tentative plans for a 3-day bus trip for farmers, members of their familles, or anyone interested to the New Liskeard area of Ontario on July 24, 25 and 26th. An early announcement is being at the present time, for the chartering of a bus and the making of motel reservations must be done by the lltb of June, and final plans made for the actual visit in the New Liskeard area. On the Tuesday,. tbe group will be leaving tbe Farmer's Co-op at Orono at 8:00 a.m. journeying tbrougb, New Liskeard and arriving in mid-afternoon. Tbere will then be a beef barbecue at tbe College of Tecbnical Agricul- ture, followed by a visit to the various plots and demonstra- tions at tbe College. On Wednesday, we will be visiting a dairy, beef, swine, cash farm and a community pasture, followed, if the mem- bers of the tour wisb, a visit to the mining museum in tbe area tbat evening.
