Jerry was a late arrival after giving Junior B hockey a try. Stew Roberts, last but not least of the regulars, was the goaltender. Stew, tbanks to the help of Bob Spooner, moved to the Eagles from Oshawa Junior B's. He's a netminder with a fast reflex action. Stew made a vow he would remove bis healthy beard if Bowmanville won the cbampionship. After the final game, the beard came off, thanks to the trainer's scissors and the eager and willlng Eagles. Along with coach Robinson and manager Janack, the other VIPs on the team were tramner John Cook who kept bis players fit and able, Keith Smith, equipment manager, who had everything in order well before the game. The young gentleman who looked after the lumber was Bill Fair. Recognition is due to the Bowmanville Minor Hockey system where almost every Eagle had his early education. Players who were available from the Minors when the Eagles were short staffed were:' Kevin Gîbson, Mike Adams, Rick Simpson, Greg Brunt, Murray Ruddy, Nick Noswenko, Brian Dennis and Terry Ruggers. Another very important group in any hockey game is the fans. Eagles have several super fans. First, you have the young fans (some with perfect attendance) who include: Mark Luxton. Pat Forsey's car caught fire on the way to Kincardine but this fan re- turned to Bowmanville for another vehicle and got to Kincardine for the second and third periods. A van loaded with 13 travelled to the final game. Senior fans include Clarence Woodley wîth bis lucky horse- shoe, Ross Strike, grandfather of Dan, who really got into the game. Another is Mel Sleep, a long-time fan. These are just a few of the Eagle supporters at home and on the road trips. Coach Paul Robinson has had the unique experience of having bis name on the cup as a player for the Junior C Georgetown team and this year as the coach of the Bowmanville team. Congrat- ulations Paul and to everyone associated with the team.
