Eagles Dot By Don Wiîcox The Bawmanville Port Darlington Marina and Hotel Junior C Eagles were back on the ice Sunday night and they defeated the Gananoque G- Men in a 5-3 game. Eagles were very fortunate ta came out af the game with two late third period goals for the victary on Gananaque ice. The Eagles turned in a sub- par effort and had it flot been for the strang second and third period goaltending by Stu Roberts and a goal by Brian Simpson with only 40 seconds showing on the dlock, the tie would nat have become a win. A olin the empty -net by BaGodfrey salted away the win in the first game of the series. Red Eagles held a territorial edge in the first period but had few goad scaring chances, holding the puck too long and nat passing ta the open man. Eagles scored the only first period goal, letting the puck work for them. Wayde Preston scored from Ralph Cryder- man and Gary Nemisz, the resuit of keeping the puck on the move in the small at- tacking zone. The second period was delayed while a reserve linesman was called ta replace the appointed linesman who had stamach cramps. G-Men tied the score for Gananoque with a goal by Steve Dickson. gr SkiMt. Gananoque then scored the tying goal with Eagles' Brian Simpson, Jerry Johnson and Jerry Leddy looking on from the penalty box. Stu Roberts' great goalten- çing along with erratic shootîng by the G-Men defused the remaining powerplay time. Brian Simpson broke dawn ice first with a hard screen drive, beating the Gananoque goalie for the game winner late in the period. The G-Men removed their goalie for the extra attacker but hard-warking Brad God- frey picked up the baose puck from the faceaff, took aimn and Waler Fanks Defeat Bey Ridges 6 to 5 The Walter Frank Toros travelled ta Bay Ridges recently and handed them a 6 ta 5 defeat. -Bay Ridges opened fast and with just il seconds gane Steve Carson scared from Jim Closs and Frank Plummer.
