TY1RONE, Heralding in the Christmas Season, Tyrone Sunday School presented its annual Christ- mas pageant and music to a full church on Sunday evening, December 10, 1978. Mr. Doug Dewel, Oshawa, guest musician for the eighth consecutive ýyear, set the mood of contented expectation with soul satisfying classics at the piano as a prelude. The Sunday School students were accompanied in song by the seated congregation, in their procession through the sanc- tuary. Mrs. Jacqueline Vaneyk supplemented Mr. Dewell's accompaniment wîth organ music for some carol singing. The Kindergarten class presented a reading "Shepherds", followed by "Little People" by the Pri- mary class. These numbers were well done by the children and much enjoyed. A candie lighting service by the Inter- mediates was quite impres- sive and the same can be said for the innovative flannel-- graph done by the Juniors. Tim Southwell accompanied the singing involved. The Seniors presented' "The Donkey's Story" in -pageant. The talent of the young people proved so refreshing that a full evening came to a close al too swiftly with the singing of the birthday song and the eating of birthday cake. Rev. Kim and Rev. Sung, two Korean ministers who recently spent about forty days in Canada, were guests of Rev. Kempling on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1978. They visited the Woodley Sawmill and the farm operations of Messrs. John Vaneyk and Tom Plea-, sance. Other congregations have similarly entertained the visitors to examples of our way of life throughout the Bay of Quinte conference. On Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1978, the Senior Citizens en- joyed a banquet at the Tyrone Community Centre. After supper they were entertained by the singing of the Golden Legionnaires from Bowman- ville. The remainder of the evening was spent in fellow- ship and playing Bingo. Resuits were as follows at the Senior Citizens euchre on Friday evening: lst Dave Hall, 2nd Francis Thompson, 3rd Evert Watson, 4th Garnet Goyne, 5th Earl Prescott, 6th Thomas Eden. Ladies low Laurrena Bright; mens low Lloyd Bradley. 50-50 Draw Ruby Malley. Twenty tables were in play. HAYDOIN Club 21 held their annual Christmas pot-luck supper and concert on Saturday night at the Community Cen- tre. The crowd was large, and the supper bountiful. About 7 :39 o'clock the con- cert started under the capable supervision of, M. C. Steve Liptay with Blanche Jones at the piano. We sang Frosty the Snowman, Rudoîf the Red Nosed Reindeer, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Jingle Belîs, led by the small children of the community. Then the same small children put on the play 'Surely the Belîs' whîch, by the way, was written by Steve and Lynne Liptay. Theri the Haydon group sang, Maryanne and Bill Milne, Julie Rusaw and Ann Kodston, Susan Slemon, Pen- ny Vanstone, with Allan Ash- ton at the piano, Penny and Bill sang a duet. Allan Ashton sang a solo, 'One Tin Soldier'. The four girls sang, 'You Light Up My Life'. Then our good friend Gor- don Baker, with his accordian, played several numbers. The older children portrayed a story of a poor Christmas. This was well done, in every way. And as Father was about to read the Christmas story, Steve read the Bible Version with the help of slide pictures, with Kathy Trent, at the piano softly playing -several carols. Then something new this year, two of our young men, brought in the Christmas tree, and under the jurisdiction of -Lori Garrard, and aIl the children they decorated the Christmas tree. Then Santa Claus arrn- ved and as usual was the" highlight of the evening. Wilbur Blackburn on behaîf. of Club 21 moved a vote of thanks to alI who helped, a Thank You to Steve and Lynne Liptay, "Merry Christmas to Ail9.
