Barbara Catto of Sunshine Nursery, Ajax called tbe meeting to order and weicomed ail the new teachers to this Branch of tbe Associa- tion. She announced that the decision was reacbed at tbe executive meeting that the officers will not change until Marcb 1979, wbicb coincides witb the year end for A.E.C.E.O. Mrs. Catto men- tioned that there was the need of a secretary to replace Ms. Bryson who bas lef t this area, Mrs. Christine Goad, Bow- manville Nursery agreed to fili the position and the other members of the executive will remain as follows: Past Pres. Day co-ordinator reported that the plans for the day, Oct. 28th at Bowmanville High Scbool'are well in hand and the programs are out. Any who have flot as yet received tbeirs should contact Mrs. Killeen and she urged all teachers to invite interested parents to attend tbe fine programn that bas been plan- ned . The afternoon session includes a panel discussion on "Is Physical Punishment Ever Necessary?" The com- mittee is fortunate to bavé secured as panel members a Nursery Teacher; Two Parents, a Psychologist and Cbild Abuse Specialist. A film was then shown from the Cbild Development Series on Infants. This was an excellent presentation espe- cially apt'for Nursery Teach- ers in September wben many of the depicted fears and frustrations are so evident during the young cild's first days at school. Ideas were presented whicb could help alleviate some of the terror wbichmany littie ones exper- ience away from the familiar surroundings of home and family. Mrs. Catto thanked Mrs. Weber f or getting sucb a fine film- and then called on Margaret Killeen to act as auctioneer for the sale of donated articles. The auction whicb realized $81.55 was a fine way to raise a littie money to assist, with P.D. Day expenses.
