Mrs. Iva Farrow, Miss Bernice Milligan and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher were among the busload of Senior Citizens (49 in ail) who travelled north, last Tuesday morning. Stopping at the Oastler Provincial Park for a picnic lunch, they drove on to Parry Sound, where they boardedthe "Island Queen" pleasure boat for a three hour scenic trip through Georgian Bay, returning by way of the North Channel. Homeward bound, they stopped for a "Smorgasborg"' at the Kitch- ener 'Mtor Hotel, in Parry Sound, thein came the nest of the way, enjoying a jolly sing-song, led by Rev. T. Smith of Newcastle, en route. Glad to hear Mr. Les. Peck is able to be home again after having spent several days, last week, in Port Hope and District Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Webster of Oshawa were recent visit- ors with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elliott and Mrs,. Elliott visited Mms. Gertie Stapleton, in Bowmanville, last Wednesday afternoon. Visitors during the past week with Mrs. Agnes Burley included Mr. and Mrs. Earl McEwen, Misses Mary Fae Gilmer and Margaret McFar- lane, all of Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Baker and children have returned from a two weeks' holiday in North- ern Ontario. Congratulations to, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher whose Fifty-Fourth Wedding Anni- versary was observed last Thursday. Phone calîs were received from family mem- bers and friends unable to be present and visitors included Dr. Fred Riding of Chicago and Mrs. Minnie Drinkle of Oshawa, Mr. Don Fletcher and friend, Mr. -and Mrs. Howard Smith and Stevie, all of -Oshawa. Our U.C.W. mmesare invited to, Kendal Wed., Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hender- son and Carol were among those attending the Saturday night play, at the Newcastle Marina. Mrs. Emily Ogden visited her. daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Clarke and family, Port Hope, over thepast weekend. Sever- al other members of the family came there to see her, including ten great grand- children and pictures were taken of the four generations. -Mr. and Mrs. T. Henderson were Saturday night visitons with Mr. and Mrs. Sid Brown. Miss Judy Brown left Mon- day momning to fly back, to Banff, after hem two 'weeks' holiday here with hem parents. Miss Bemnice Milligan was at our church door Sunday morning greeting the mem- bers of the congregation and Rev. Tizzard's sermon was entitled, "Building On Solid Ground," leaving us, as usual, with something worth while to remember. At the close of the service one young lady was heard nemanking that, as the men seem to feel free to leave off their ties and formal attire, when the weather is so warm, why wouldn't it be a good idea to suggest that we all corne to church wearing our bathing suits? I promised ýto, mention this idea in the news as I feel sure if this were to happen, we'd have a church filled to capacity! The meeting of the Official Board is being held to-night (Monday) in Shiloh Church. The Induction Service for Rev. A. Tizzard is to be held in Kendal Church on Wed., Sept. 8, at 8 p.nl. Sympathy is expressed to her relatives, in the passing of Mrs. Inez Todd, formerly of Shiloh, whose funeral was ,held Tuesday fnom the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowman- ville. Mrs. Mary Wade and Mrs. Marion Fluvian of Barrie were weekend. visitons with Mrs. Leone Lane and ahl called on Mn. and Mrs. Bll Lane, Port Hope, on Sunday afternoon. Some enjoyed a hay ride with two tractons drawing the wagon. A lovely wagon ride was enjoved. YELVERTON Mn. and Mrs. Howard Mal- colmi returned home on Friday from a pleasant two weeks holiday in Holland. They also cahled on and were entertain- ed by Mn. and Mrs. John Bakker and Peter of Ymuida. 1On Sunday, Yelverton's Men split a double header with Oshawa Towers - the first game went to Oshawa in two extra innings to break a 3-3 tie and the second game to Yelverton in a 13-0 game. Dale Stinson had 13 stnikeouts in the second game; Terry, Malcolm had 4 runs in the second game and Fred Tanner scored 3 runs. Tenry Malcolm had the best batting average of the day with 7 hits for 10 times at bat. Mn. and Mns. Clare Robin- son entertained Laurie's little niece this past week neturning home on Sunday to Plattsville. Mrs. Terry Malcolm, Todd and Terra are scheduled to spend a few days with her parents at a cottage on Geongian Bay area this week. The current heat wave has been condusive to ideal han- vesting conditions..
