Birthday greetings to Janet Pruner, Hugh Allin and Gladys Belsey. Mr. Beverley Jaynes, Lake Shore, accompanied by his sister, Mr. and Mrs. John :James, Toronto, and a family friend, Mrs. Kate Sullivan, enjoyed Wednesday dinner in the revolving restaurant of the ,C.N. Tower, Toronto. Bev informs us who suffer from height fear that there is nothing to dread. Three ele- vators taking 22 customers at a time, get the diners up to the dining room which accommo- dates 600 people. During their dining time, the restaurant revolved one turn and a half. The elevator to the Sky Pod takes 12 passengers. After spending about four hours at the Tower, Bev found it an exciting experience and rec- ommends it even for us scaredy-cats. His last advice was - take your cheque book! Mr. and Mrs. J. Harkness, Oakville, are spending a few days with Mrs. Irene Byers. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crago enjoyed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Firth and Sally at their cottage on Balsam Lake. About 20 members of the famnily including Mr. and Mrs. Alan Crago and Ryan, Brace- bridge, enjoyed the Firth's hospitality. Mr. Earl Randall and friend, Mount Forest, called on Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Powell on Wednesday even- ing. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Montgomery Mr. and Mrs. Edward Montgomery of Newcastle were honored at a dinner in the banquet room of the Elmhurst Hotel, Newcastle on Saturday evening. Daughter Doris Waite from Vancouver and granddaughter Beverley Roberts from Charlottetown, P.E.L, also arrived for the reception. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery have 33 grandchildren and 13 greatJ grandchildren. Department was called out to the fatal accident on Hwy. 401 near Newtonville, when four young Scarborough people were killed. Mrs. Mabel Bedwin, great-grand- mother of the groom, attended the wedding reception, follow- ing the wedding, at the Brownsdale Community Centre.' Bart- lett was our speaker and brought us an excellent talk in connection with Olympia and what it should mean to all. Miss J. McGillis sang a couple of songs assisted with her guitar. Mrs. B. Cruise was the organist. A good crowd attend- ed. The A.O.T.S. club supplied coffee and a unit of the U.C.W. served fruit breads. Next Sunday our service will be at Mr. and Mrs. L. In the Scugog League this past week, Cathmar Well Drillers came back to defeat Nestleton.9-5 on Tuesday night. On Sunday, they kept the winning streak going with a decisive 14-2 defeat over Kedron. Later in the day, Richardson Farms took the first game of the best of 3 series with Bethany by a 2-1 count. Gary VanDam homer- ed for Richardson Farms. Ralph 'Hyland pitched both games for Pontypool and was credited with 22 strikeouts for the day. Ralph also added a H.R. in the first game. Bethany will be in Pontypool on Wednesday night for the second game of the playoffs. Cathmar Well Drillers will be participating in a tournament in Port Perry this weekend.
