EN N ISKILL EN A congregation of 70 folks heeded the invitation of the Church bell to "Corne to Church" in spite of weather that was rather duil but a definite improvement over the '-miniature winter we experi- enced a week ago. Ray Ashton as organist played sweet music in the Pre, Inter and Postludes also- led' his Sr. Choir of 12 in giving the musical message, in the anthem "Dear to the Heard of God. " Cindy McGill assisted her dad in distributing the Bulletins and Stewardship pamphlets. Dorothy Sharp took care of the Jr. Congrega- tion. Rev. Bigby's Children's Story stated that Laws are necessary to have order and we cannot always do our own thing. He told of a runaway girl, showing kindness to a dog, was how she was found by her parents. Our minister chose as a topic for his sermon "Let God Work in You," and based it on a verse from Paul's letter to the Philip- pians. Edward (Ted) Kersey will preach. It will be a combined service of Sunday School and Church services at 9:45 ar. We hope many roads will lead to our church for 2 special afternoons viz: Sun. The operetta "The Merry Widow" presented by Oshawa Choral Society and directed by Hugh Mart in for 5 nights in Eastdàle Auditorium had ex- cellent patronage. Margaret and Orville Ashton attended. Among the 13 Executive members in attendance for Oshawa Presbyterial U.C.W. at St. Stephen's U.C.W. Osh- awa last Monday was Marg- aret Ashton. U.C.W. Meeting, April 28th Mrs. M. Pollard, Pres. chaired the April U.C.W. meeting with a good atten- dance Wed. p.m. opening with a poem "To-Day" and thanked our hostess Mrs. J. Siemon who welcomed us to her home. The minutes were read and approved followed by business items and thank- you notes. Mrs. R. Virtue gave the treasurer's report. "Friendship" was the theme for the devotional given by Mrs. I. Sharp. Opening with a poem and a favourite hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus. " Reading from- Ideals, on Friends and Prayer. Mrs. W. Everyone enjoyed a social time and lunch, served by the north group, after a pleasant and profitable after- noon. Many Happy Returns Elisabeth Mayrene. We are happy to report favourable progress for Dor- othy Sharp's dad, Mr. Harold Skinner after recent surgery in Oshawa G. Hospital. A number of ladies were at work on another quilt at Mrs. E.
