Reeve and Mrs. George Neals, Deputy-Reeve Lorne Curtin and Road Superin- tendant Maurice Bradley ahl attended the Good Roads Association Convention in Toronto, February 23-25. The theme of the convention was "Roads - Paths to Develop- ment" and the Wednesday luncheon speaker was Mr. Darcy McKeough, Minister of Finance. The Annual meeting of the Bethany Athletic Association was held in the Town Hall, Bethany, on February 18 at 8 p.m. The newk officers for '76 were appointed as folows: president - Robert Ryley; vice-president, 'Bert ÉRiel;ý treasurer, Yvonne McQuaid; and secretary, Kathy Kloepfer. It was agreed that the 24th of May celebrations will beI held again this year. There will be a dance on May 8 to !-aise money for the fireworks, followed by the annual week- end dance on the 22nd of May. More information will -be provided about these dances and the parade. We urgently need coach- es, committee members and supporters for the bail teams if we are to make this athletic year a success. Please come out and support us at the next Athletic meeting to be held on March 31 in the Town Hall at 8 p.m. This could be your participaction projectfor this year. Retirement Party Folks from Janetviile, Pontypool and Bethany on February 21 at 8 p.m. to wish Mr. Mel Wright, Manvers Township Fire Chief from 1968 to 1975, a- very happy retire- ment. Mr. Wright had been Janetviile's Fire Chief fromn its start and was presented with a watch from Janetville Fire Dept. by Mr. Ross Winacott. Mr. Ross Neals from the Bethany Fire Dept. presented an engraved silver beer stein, on their behaîf. Mr. George Neals, Reeve of the Township, thanked every- one for coming and making the nîght such an occasion for Mr. Wright. Mr, Neals introduced Mr. Lorne Curtin, Deputy-Reeve/, who presented a plaque to Mr. Wright on behaif of the Township of Manvers; and Mrs.. Norne. Propp Councilor, presented a lovely silver brooch to Mrs. Wright for ail the services she has given over the years as the Fire Chief's wife.
