They were indeed fortunate in the good weather and roadconditions and they thoroughly enjoyed ail the holiday family gatherings. John and Margaret -Killen travelled to Sanford, Maine last weekend, to attend the fijneral of their brother-in-law Lawrence Bolton and- they s p nt a couple of days with Xohn's sister Margaret and hier family.ý Mrs. Ronald Snedden, Carleton Place, ano- ther sister, accompanied them., Several boys have been working along with the Kins- men to put ir an outdoor rink at Shaw's. With ail the snow-storms, they've had a busy time trying to keep it cicared. Among those attending the vcry enjoyable concert by the Oshawa S hon Orchestra at the Highehool on Sunday cvening were Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Hendry, Mr. and Mrs., Fritz Marti and Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Riekard. This concert provided an excellent oppor- tunity to hear some fine music and it was very gratifying to sec such a large attendance. Many in this area will be interested in, knowing that Stanley Rickard and his wife Murie1 of Beaverton are spcnding this year in Scotland in residence, Geddes Hall, at the University of Stirling. Stanley is the cldest son of the late Mr., and Mrs. W.J.S. Riekard of Shaw's. Stan taught school at Lock- hart's in the former township of Clarke and it was. during his time at Lockhart's that he began his extra mural studies for his University decfree. For a time hie worked at the Lakefieid Prepara tory'School, Millbrook Hfigh an d then served -as assistant superin- tendant 'at our local' Boys' Training Sehool. Finallylhe became principal of the Brock District gh Schiool at Can- mington. He retired two years agoh This year lie is teaching Mathematics in a Glasgow Secondary School having joined a group oÏ Ontario teachers,' on invitation from the Scottish Board of Educa- tien, in an effort to more adequately staff their heavily- popuae schools in their Industrial areas. We wish Stan and Muriel wellanid congratulate both of them on their ver y productive career in the field of Educa- tion. Mrs. Ruth McGill, Exnniskîl- len put on a fine tupperware k arty on Tuesday afternoon at ileen's. The proceeds from the sales at this party go to the B.H.S. Mrs. W. Brown reported for the "Good Neighbours." t ,Was voted to give $35 to the Board of Stewards for use of the Hall for past year. Mrs. H. chosen te spend time in the Unîted Kingdom.
