Mr. Eugene Touchburn, husband of Mrs. Bertha M.J. Cain Touchburn of Main Street North, Orono, passed away on Saturday, October 25th at the Civic Hospital, Peterborough. Rested at the Comstock Funerai Home, Peterborough. Funeral service was on Wed- nesday afternoon from St. John 's Anglican Church at Ida. Interment Orono Ceme- tery. Morton of Orono._____ BHS Sports by Ron Chow (intended for last Week) Exhibition games have kept ail the BHS teams practicing and playing hard as ail teams prepare for the final playoffs and tournaments. The Junior Redmen football team p layed an excellent teamn from McLaughlin last Friday, beating themn by a score of 36-0. Everyone played weil especially John Hogarth who was top scorer. Last Monday, the Senior football team played Oshawa Catholic and defeated themn 14-7. Later in the week the Senior Redmen suffered two losses. They played Campbell- ford Tuesday and lost 20-8. The second loss came on Friday when BHS played an excellent team fromn Picker- ing when they were defeated 35-8. In the Cross-Country dept. BHS entered the O'Neill Invitationai Meet last Mon- day. The meet was successful for BHS as Paul Bedard earned a thîrd place finish. In the Bantam event, Mike Robinson came fifth. In the Senior event Ken Page ran well to win seventh spot in a grueiiing 4.2 mile event. Last Wed. at a meet in Uxbridge, Paul Bedard was placed third and Russ-Carruthers l2th. The Senior Soccer team played a' powerful Courtice teamn last Wednesday and were defeated 5-t John Krum- menacher scored the only BHS goal. On Thursday the Senior team played Eastdale. The game was faîrly fast thoughout, and at some points the play got a littie chippy. Bowmanville missed several glorious scor- ing opportunities which would have given them the victory. The team's best effort was dispiayed Oct. 25 at Ajax, as the defeated the ho me town clu b. t was a different game than a week ago when the locals were overpowered. In this second encounter the locals dominated, cashihg in on severai Ajax penalties. Fast skating Edidie Gruy- ters led the team with two goals and one assist. Defence- man Brent Badour who has, looked very strong so far, as- sisted on three. John Conboy picked up two assists and one goal, Terry Sarginson 1 goal and i assist, Don Farrow, had- one of each also. Jerry John- stone picked up a goal and John Hogarth picked up one assist. The defence consisting of Badour with Hogarth and Mackey with Storgard are* playing real weli and maybe a KI littie more hitting would improve their overal defen- sive play. The goaltending has beensuperb and should consti- tute a very Iow G.A.a. Coach Bob Skene and Man- ager Don Hogarth provide excellent coaching and assist- ance for the team and should lead them to a very successful season. The team shows great ome and hope for the near utrso come on out and suppor:t them.
