8The Canadian Statesman Bowmanville, June 4, 1975 Section Two ENNISKILLEN The -first local event to celebrate the 5tb Anniver- sary of the U.C. for Enniskii- len - Tyrone Pastoral Charge took place last Sunday a.m. in the auditorium of the public school. In order to accommo- date an anticipated large congregation hopefully ex- pecting a sunny and higb Celcius temperature reading the hierarcby planneci to hold the service in the larger building. Ail hopes were filled without exceptions and a procession of cars arrived at the school. The spacious stage was ideal for 43 bappy-faced Siris and boys who with their i1rector, Mrs. Uiah Cham- bers, formed the Jr. Choir, also ailowing ample room for the -ex-pulpit which was used by our minister and guest speaker. The prelude was 4 E iano solos by two young opefuls from each of Tyrone and Enniskilien congrega- tions, viz: Lee-Ann Haynes and Tim Soutbwell (Tyrone); Karyn Bigby and Judy Vrtue (Enniskillen). Rev. Bigby led in the Order-of-Service and began by extending a warm welcorne to everyone, espec- iaily the guest speaker, M ir. Ernest A. Coombes ("Mr. Dress-Up" of T.V. famne, also an Eider in Centennial U.C. West Hill) Mr. Coombes cap. tured the rapt attention of bis listeners with, much illustra- tive material and a toucb of magic. His introduction was a brief description of his trip and the beautiful countryside from bis home to our scbool. He compimented the young choir on the deligbtfui singing. He aiso referred to the celebration last Sunday in bis home churcb in its 84tb year and in a few words related bis life story as a littie boy, teenager and now using a flannel graph lie used coloured paper pieces to make a cburcb picture and cbanged it into a girl and boy fromf the samne pieces. He said Jesus got bis word across by using many parables and he similarly uses stories, pictures and a few tricks witb bis magical pieces e.g. tal bat, wand and silk handkerchiefs. He continued to tell that tbe key word is love. In conclusion lie calied attention to the fact that many in bis audience would see the next 50 years of tbe U.C. on its lOtb AUnnversary and bis ho pe was for peace, love, good fellowsbip and God's blessing etec U on the world.
