In the opener, the Spencer bunch outdistanced Walter Franks 6-2 with a four goal, third period surge. Mutton's received littie resistance from Brooks' Supertest,. as they buried thema 7-2 in the late contest. The two winners are the only undefeated clubs after two weeks of play in the 18 game schedule. Walter Franks trailed by just a single goal after 40 minutes of the first match, but Spencers owned the final period, outscoring them 4-1. The only goal in the opening frame was by Bob Harness, after 9:00. At 1:30 of the second, Ron Simpson connect- ed tying things with his first of the season. The losers' Bob Hellam, who drew only six penalty minutes in 22 league and playoff games last year, was away on a tripping sentence when Spen- cer's Brian Evans scored from Kim Rogers. The win- ners rammed home four more third period tallies before Walter Franks notched the final score of the game. Spencers' snipers were Cap- tain Larry Perris, followed by, a pair by Don McMurter and Doug Crough's second of the year. Rick Woolner was Wal- ter Frank's only marksman over the last 20 minutes. The losers drew four of the game's seven penalties. In the other affair, Brooks were overwhelmed by the speed and accurate passing game displayed by Muttons. The winners jetted away to a 4-0 first period lead and neyer looked back., Grant Wright, Spencer's regular netmînder filled in for the losers and most of the gamne was playing a lonie hand. The Sheil crowd hît for two second period goals and added a single in the final 20 minutes. Brooks' only scores came in the third with Muttons well in command. "Bucky" Hughes - spoiled Curt Vanstone's shut- out plans at 5:05 with Lanny Burns adding the other at 19:58. Muttons received a two goal, one assist performance from George Sainsbury, while Brian Howells, Dave Green, Brian Rowe, Mike McGregor and Jrv Gill completed the scoring. Gili also notched three assists, whîle Green had a pair. While Muttons' shooters dazzled Brooks, Vanstone and his defence were very efficient wben tbey were tested. "Butch" Cole and newcomer McGregor were especially prominent. Muttons picked uo the only two penalties called by officials "Archie" Crossey and Paul Forsey. This Sunday a.m. has Walter Franks and Muttons colliding at 9: 00 while Spencers and Brooks meet in the 10: 15 encounter.
