Police investigate rash of break-ins in Oakville by Michael Gregory Oakville Beaver Staff 3 | Friday, October 24, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Halton police are asking for the public's assistance after a string of break-ins during October in north Oakville. "The break and enters have been occurring during the daytime when residents are most often away at school or work," police said in a media release issued Thursday. The suspects have been targeting the area between Dundas Street and Upper Middle Road, stretching from Third to Ninth lines. Police said the suspects will ring the doorbell of a residence and when no one answers they allegedly force their way through the front door to gain entry. Det.-Const. Brent Lovett said in one incident a couple was home at the time and the suspects fled from the scene. The alleged thieves have been taking cash, jewelry and electronics from within the residence, police said. Members of the public are being urged by police to report any suspicious persons and/or vehicles in their neighbourhoods immediately. The incidents are being investigated by the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau Break and Enter Team. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det.-Const. Police say the incident occurred on Oct. 9 between 7:45 a.m.-9:30 p.m. at a residence on Rebecca Street near Third Line. "The suspects forced their way through a garage side door and proceeded to steal a large quantity of items stored within," police said in a release. The list of items includes a Bugaboo baby carriage, two mountain bikes, a snow blower and a brand new Gazebo-in-a-Box. Police said the garage door was left open and they believe the suspects used a large van or pickup truck.
