Blades cold at home, hot on road The Oakville Blades were blanked on home ice for the second straight time Saturday, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Trenton Golden Hawks at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Oakville fired 31 shots at the Trenton net but could not solve Golden Hawks netminder Justin Kapelmaster. Trenton scored once in the first period and added a pair of tallies in the middle frame. The loss was just the Blades' second in their last seven games, the other being a 2-0 loss defeat at the hands of the Aurora Tigers the previous Saturday in Oakville. Friday, the Blades posted their third straight road victory, downing the St. Michael's Buzzers 5-3 in Toronto. Kamil Tkaczuk and Matthew Lippa each notched a goal and an assist, with Brandon Hughes, Greg Campbell and Ryan Garvey providing the Blades' other markers. Brendan McGlynn made 21 saves for Oakville, which outshot the Buzzers 39-24. The Blades are now 3-5 on home ice this season, compared to a 5-2-1 road mark they carried into last night's (Wednesday's) game in Georgetown. Oakville will host the Buffalo Jr. Sabres tomorrow (Friday, 7:30 p.m. start) at Sixteen Mile. The Blades dealt forward Joe Seney to the Cobourg Cougars Monday. The London native had two goals and two assists in nine games this season. CJHL Prospects Game coming to Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Oakville will host this season's Canadian Junior Hockey League Prospects Game, the CJHL announced Monday. The contest, slated for Jan. 20, 2015 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, is one of the premier junior A hockey events in the country and provides the CJHL's top players with exposure to scouts from the NHL, NCAA, CHL and Canadian universities and colleges.
