Peter McCusker* Oakville Beaver Jamie Smith · Oakville Beaver Oakville players suit up against U.S. and Canadian national Jr. teams By Neil Becker SPEC IA L T O TH E BEAVER The old Yogi Berra saying, `It ain't over till it's over', sums up what happened to a Central Ontario Baseball Association (COBA) all-star squad on Friday at Oakville Park. The area all-star team, with eight Oakville players in tow, couldn't hold a late lead as they dropped a 5-3 decision to the powerful U.S. national junior squad. Ironically, the COBA team had a tougher time against the Canadian national junior team, dropping a 16-5 decision. In the night cap o f this incredible day of baseball for Oakville, Team Canada contin ued its a great play with an 8-5 win against Team U.S.A. It has been Team Canada's lone win against the Americans, against two losses -- 5-3 and 18-9. The two national junior teams are on an extensive tour of Ontario and Quebec in preparation for the world junior baseball championship which will be held in Sherbrooke, Quebec, August 1-11.
