The Oakville Beaver, W ednesd ay July 17, 2002 - B3 Midnight Madness celebrates 25 years n Friday July 19th, Downtown Oakville proudly cele brates its silver anniversary of Midnight Madness! In its 25th year, this is the biggest retail & entertainment festival of the summer, drawing crowds of 50,000 annually! The excitement begins at 6:00 p.m. sharp, when the road blocks go up on Lakeshore Road and retailers bring their wares to the sidewalks offering shoppers some extra special Midnight Madness sale prices! At 7:00 p.m. music will fill the streets with live entertain ment on every block. Entertainers in the line-up include the hilarious comedy song sty lings of "THUD", the hot latin sounds of Eco Andino, The Mexico Amigo Mariachi Band and the Giovani Ruiz Latin group. Other great performers include The Colleen O'Brien Band, performances by the Goggin School of Irish dancing, The Oakville Wind Orchestra and the Oakville Ceilidh Fidders. Be sure to make Reynolds street south one of your stops during the night to check out the trampoline antics of "The Rebounders" and the amazing juggling talents of Craig Douglas. The festival also welcomes back some downtown Oakville regulars including The Imbayakuna's, The Kings and The Excelsior Jazz Band. Featured in Towne Square again this year are rock and rollers Timmy and the Jets, decked out in their red shirts, and playing courtesy of our generous community sponsor, Scotiabank and Trust.
